Countdown...

My enlistment is scheduled for Wednesday and my ship date for BCT is set. So here we go.
45 day countdown to get jacked.

Asked the bff and my favorite 900 mile away personal trainer for advice. And its gonna be supplements and almost daily workouts to get where I need to be by Basic. This is my new life.

Hopefully...

Finals are finally over, and I survived.
Moving is almost done, and is scheduled for before move out date, so that's in the clear.
Military enlistment is all down to just waiting to hear back and then scheduling a day to sign up.
Almost everything is done.
Granted, my trip to my mother is looking less likely.
And my life isn't turning out...perfectly...but I might be able to get back to a normal schedule soon.

Most importantly that means I might be able to start concentrating on my workouts, and I will return to my sane, and less anxious former self.

Tomorrow...I want nothing more than to go to the gym. Unfortunately, it is looking unlikely since I have work.
But soon. I'm very much living on that soon.

To those living the hectic life and trying to fit in fitness for sanity's sake a return to a schedule after a few crazy weeks is the most wonderful feeling. I don't mind being busy, but without my schedule, I am lost.
Schedule your fitness. Always. And if a few bumps get in the way for a while don't sweat it. Just be grateful when the time for normal hectic replaces crazy hectic.

Creative Training

This is a post from...August 15th 2011.
Internet at the new place...win!

So, I've been spending less time at the gym then ever lately. But I've also learned ways to take my training outside of the gym.
This is probably the best skill you can learn, to just become active. Everyday.
Maybe its a hike, or like my Thursday morning it is an hour and a half hike with a weighted backpack.
Fun.
Relaxing. (If you're crazy like me)
And a nice workout.

Or, maybe it's like my Saturday night.

PAINTBALLL!!!!
Besides snowboarding this is by far one of my favorite pass times with friends.
Speedball nonetheless.
You play with a gun, called a marker.
Pretty similar to an airsoft gun/game if you've ever played.
Mostly you can rent all the gear for a price at special paintball fields. Or you can be like me and some of my ridiculous friends and buy your own. And while this is pricey up front if you go regularly, like I used to, it actually ends up cheaper.
But, anyway.
I have an Etek 3lt. It's black and white. Very pretty.
So you go to this field, rent a marker (gun), pod packs (which hold your paint), a hopper (it holds the paint your gun is using and loads it), and a mask (protects your face).
And you'll see the regulars (they're wearing special pants, jerseys, and have pretty flashy guns and gear).
But the refs explain when to shoot, the safety rules, how to shoot, and then lead you over to the field. In speedball this field is made up of air inflated bunkers (triangle, rectangular, cylindrical and other miscellaneous shapes) and separate you and everyone else there into teams.
You stand on the mat, gun pointed at each other with the bunkers in-between and the ref blows the whistle to go. Basically, you just try not to get shot while shooting at the other team. Last team with standing members wins, unless you're playing capture the flag and such and then you'll go by those rules.
But the point I was making is that...these types of things are exercise.
And especially the running while squatting, diving, and getting dirty are all perfectly suited to fit into my training for the mud run in September. There I will be, running while squatting, diving, and getting dirty.
Also, my muscles definitely were sore the day after, and not just from getting shot at. All that squatting is a pretty good glutes workout.

But for Butts.

20 min hill climb on the stationary bike.
1 hour intensive lower body routine.
(Weighted lunges, squats, kickbacks. Abductor/ adductor machine. Calf raises. Leg press. And everything in-between)
5 min mini Ab work.
10 more mins cardio on the elliptical also in hill climb mode.

Abs are easy, if I ate well for a week or two mine would be gorgeous.
They are made in the kitchen with minimal need for actual exercises. Making my body less flat as a board however is quite more complex.
Maybe one of these days I'll build a butt, but it seems no matter how many weighted squats, lunges and donkey kicks I do there is still very little there.

Sooo...technical difficulties abound.

I have a post from this weekend, unfortunately with my internet access on the fritz again I can't post it yet.
In the meantime here's an update on today.
Cardio 20mins this morning (on a stair stepper/elliptical hybrid)
7pUpperbody 1 hour tonight. That was preceded by a 10min warm-up on the bike with hand weights and followed by a fifteen minute cooldown on the elliptical. Post workout I tried a Myoplex shake, didn't taste great and didn't taste awful. Just kind of "meh".
I also tried my luck at those unconquerable pushups again...the girly ones are getting easier but I still can't complete even one normal one. And since my ship date got moved closer I've gotta figure something out, and fast. Somehow I need to be able to do 20 something of them. I'm thinking supplements are the way to go. Now if only I had internet access to order them...

Life Happens

So tonight I caved and ate half a bag of Reese's Unwrapped for dinner at work.
A temporary set back.
But I never feel too bad, I did pretty good otherwise today, had falafel with veggies and hummus for lunch, so calorie dense but healthy and full of nutrients. Some days I go over on calories, but I've learned that's okay because someday I go under too.
I'm much more concerned about the ingredients and nutrients in my food than the number of calories. So long as 80% of the time I eat whole, natural foods the other 20% its okay that I give in a little.
Because of today I will purposely eat more mindfully tomorrow.
And! I'm going hiking in the morning. Purposely carrying a backpack and wearing my cardio hand weights. I'm finally getting at least a few member from the mud run team together for the hike. (I will be running the Southwick, MA, Rugged Maniac event with a five man team. More info at ruggedmaniac.com)
I'm really excited, despite the fact that its followed by class and work.
Also, my enlistment is almost finished, and I should he starting RSP for the MA National Guard soon. More details to come.
And it is all 80/20.

Gahhhhh!!!!!

Minor distraction from training/ major freakout:

My computer would die when I have homework to do. Fail.
This is what happens when you transport a computer with a damaged motherboard. Can't even get it to turn on...hectic life just got more hectic as I'm going to have to go to campus in the am to do homework then find someone to fix my laptop for the little amount of money I have to offer. And there goes the morning training...the

End Rant. Well, blogging from my phone shall continue I suppose. Though I much prefer a full keyboard.
